Peace Through Poetry- What is Love?

My bestie and I celebrating a very lovely galentine’s day

Because it’s so close to Valentine’s Day, I decided to share one of my favorite ways to peacefully voice my emotions: poetry. Yes, today’s poem is a peaceful love poem, but they don’t always have to be that way. What I love so much about poetry is that there’s no right or wrong way to do it. You can rhyme, not rhyme, and play with words so freely. If you’re feeling harsh emotions write them and be as authentic as possible. Trust me, you’ll find so much calm and freedom in letting it all out and using your words as an art form to express your feelings. Lately, however, I’ve been feeling the love, so I bring to you my happy and content Valentine’s Day words:

What is Love?

What is love other than true freedom,
Soaring through time like a dove
In its ethereal and limitless kingdom:
A marvelous treasure from above.

Love is peace:
A sea of tranquility in a world of chaos,
The earth’s timepiece:
Keeping our heart’s measure as the day goes on.

Love is contentment:
Never settling, always surpassing,
The surprise of a lifetime:
Never daunting, always dashing.

Love is happiness:
Good, true, and genuine,
An ever-growing bliss:
A magical forest vine.

Love is understanding:
Always taking the time and effort,
It's patience selflessly expanding;
Offering peace of mind in every love letter.

What does love mean and how do you define,
Something so never-ending and effortlessly divine?

It’s everything good and right and true.
And darling if you’re reading these lines,
It lies peacefully within you. ❤
