4 Reasons Why I Love Yoga

For today’s post, I thought I’d share a little bit about my yoga journey and why I love it so much. To preface this, I am a bit of a beginner. I started the journey around the beginning of last year, so it’s been a little over a year for me. Hovever, I fell in love with the practice since the day that I began. Without further ado, here are the reasons why I love it so much and some links to my favorite yoga channels on YouTube.

1. It’s an amazing form of self-love.

Ever since I started, I loved the calming effect it had on my body. Yoga is a type of exercise that is so kind to your body. It’s not like other harsh workouts such as interval training or running. In other words, it won’t leave you with joint pain, back aches, or bad knees. Because let’s be honest, who wants to feel like an 80-year-old at 20? Instead, it will leave you feeling weightless and energized. It stretches you out while simultaneously working your muscles and allows you to be present in your body. It’s something simple you can do to care for your overall wellbeing and let your body know how much you love and appreciate it.

2. It’s a fast track to peace.

I’m not lying when I tell you morning yoga brings me peace throughout my entire day. On the days that I start with morning yoga, I truly feel its calming effects. It feels like a weight being lifted off my shoulders. It releases any tense muscles that I’ve got going on in the morning and sets the tone for a steady, peaceful day. It can also be a relaxing nighttime activity if you’ve had a stressful day!

3. There are so many health benefits.

It’s not just good for your physical health. Yoga is beneficial to developing and connecting you to your mind, body, and spirit. Physically, it helps improve flexibility, balance, strength, energy levels, and can even boost your immune system. Mentally, it helps with stress relief, control over your emotions, and overall mental health. Lastly, in the spiritual department, it brings a sense of purpose, inner-peace, and contentment. So, as you can see, you have a lot to gain through practicing yoga and that is exactly why I love it. It’s not just for exercise or to “work out and be skinny.” It’s a wholesome experience that brings love and care to every aspect of your being.

4. It’s more accessible than you think.

Did you know there are tons of yoga YouTube channels out there? I know right! You never even have to set foot in a yoga studio if you don’t want to. You quite literally just need access to WIFI and a yoga mat (psst I literally got mine for $5 at target). Bellow I’ve linked my favorite channels for you in case you want to try it out!

Move With Nicole

Move With Nicole has a variety of yoga, pilates, and HIIT workouts. I like to go to her channel when I’m in the mood to work on strength and sweat a bit more. She does, however, have some really chill morning yoga and yoga-pilates fusion videos as well.

Yoga With Adriene

Yoga With Adriene is a yoga channel with practices for every level, occasion, and mood, so if you’re looking for genuine yoga, this is the way to go.

Kalyn Nicholson

Kalyn’s channel only has a few since it’s not primarily a yoga channel, but the yoga flows she does have are really peaceful, chill, and wonderful, and they leave you feeling really stretched out.
